Meares Irlen Testing
What is Meares Irlen? Some people with dyslexia also suffer from a condition called Meares Irlen Syndrome. This means that looking at the usual black on white while reading can cause undue stress to the eyes and this can result in letters jumping about on the page, blurry letters etc.
If you or your child have these symptoms and you have already had a standard check up with an optician, a Meares Irlen test may also be provided. If the Meares Irlen test comes back positive then an overlay may be recommended or the adoption of tinted lenses.
It is crucial that before you or your child undertake a Meares Irlen test that you have seen an optician. The above symptoms can be caused by more serious physical issues.
